This morning, 22 July, the Baader Fundation for Development, in partnership with the Abas Development Organization, organized an awareness session on "The Role of Women in Security and Peace", based on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women as an actor in peace and security.
Among the themes that emphasize the importance of the need to: - Take into account the privacy of women and involve them in the processes of maintaining security and peace-building, especially in areas affected by the conflict. - To sensitize peacekeepers, police and the judiciary to the specificity of women in conflict and to take measures to ensure their protection and commitment to the human rights of women and girls. - Securing the special needs of women and girls in conflict. Support the role of women in the areas of military observers, civilian and humanitarian police and human rights monitors. - Represent the women of societies that have experienced armed conflict to be heard in the process of conflict resolution and be part of all levels of decision-making as an equal partner for preventing and resolving conflicts and achieving sustainable peace. #initiate
